Yellow lines for courses indicate the path for the Masters Mile and light blue lines indicate the path for the 10K, but neither are drawn to scale. The 10K course will be marked by large orange buoys at the turns and smaller orange intemediate buoys on the straights. The Mile course will be marked by a large yellow buoy.
Course: an 800m loop parallel to the shore of Estero Island (Fort Myers Beach). Men start at 12:00 noon and women start in a second wave at 12:10 PM.
Entrants: There is no limit to the number of swimmers who may enter. The Masters Mile is open to all USMS-registered swimmers, but only those who are registered with either the Florida LMSC or the Florida Gold Coast LMSC will count for LMSC points. Club affiliation does not matter.
Social: A social with food and libation will be held at the conclusion of the race.
LMSC Awards: In addition to bragging rights, a donation in the name of the LMSC will be made to a 501(c)3 charity of the winning LMSC's choice. The winning LMSC will will also receive a traveling trophy that it will keep until the 2009 Masters Challenge.
Scoring and points: Only the top six overall finishers in each age/gender divisional race will count for team points. Points awarded will be equal to the gender/age group place finish, with the LOW score winning. Points are earned in four gender/age group divisional races. The overall LMSC winner is determined by adding those four point totals together for an LMSC score. Age divisions are
- 44 and under (women, men)
- 45 and over (women, men)
